This is it! We are doing this, and you are coming along for the ride!
We launch our IndieGogo campaign to raise funds for our debut album, and we want you to explore the path less trod with us: re-imagine, discover, and create new music with Black Cedar.
Join us at the Fremont Coffee Roasting Company for a free concert by Black Cedar, plus great coffee, tea, and food. And, while you are there, visit www.indiegogo.com and donate to our cause.
We need your help to record, produce, and release our debut album that will bring to life Nathan Kolosko’s Hungarian Trio, Klaus Hinrich Stahmer’s Debussyana, Ross Carey’s Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Garrett Shatzer’s new work, and Durwynne Hsieh’s new work, both being written especially for Black Cedar. None of these works have been commercially recorded, and they are all beautiful and creative pieces of music that need to reach listening audiences everywhere.
You can help us with…
THE $2,000 IN TOTAL COMMISSIONING FEES FOR OUR COMPOSERS.
After the projected 250 hours of composition time necessary for a new work of chamber music, a $1,000 commission to Garrett and Durwynne means an hourly rate of only $4. Mama, don’t let your babies grow up to be composers.
THE $5,000 ESTIMATED COST TO PRODUCE THIS ALBUM WITH VGO RECORDINGS.
Vince Go is an amazing recording engineer who is generously offering us a very low fee for our first album. There are multiple steps involved with creating the final product:
Recording the music
Editing and Mixing the sounds
Mastering the final selections
Creating the album art work and the graphic design
Replicating and duplicating all of those compact discs
