In the final week of the exhibition Andy Warhol: Portraits, celebrate the art of pop with Black Cedar, a unique ensemble of guitar, flute, and cello that celebrates the beautiful and the unusual, creating programs that highlight new works by contemporary composers and rarely performed classical works. This concert will include the 2015 work Miscellaneous Music by Durwynne Hsieh, commissioned by Black Cedar. In this work, Hsieh draws a connection with the art of Andy Warhol by inflecting his music with popular culture, much as Warhol did in his famed, and at times jarring, portraits. Space is limited, and reserving tickets in advance is recommended.
Enjoy a docent-led tour of the exhibition Andy Warhol: Portraits in advance of the performance by Black Cedar at 1 or 2 PM. Prelude Tours help place the musical performance in context of the art on view. No registration is necessary for the tour.
